Project Description
Access Health Vancouver (AHV) combines a number of the world's leading specialist organizations. Together, Access Health Vancouver has the local talent and global expertise to successfully design, finance, construct and maintain the new state-of-the-art Academic Ambulatory Care Centre. Access Health Vancouver is the consortium selected to design, build, finance and operate this facility at the site of the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). Highlights of the New Facility - The Academic Ambulatory Care Centre (AACC) is an 11-storey, 365,000 square foot health care facility on the site of Vancouver General Hospital (VGH)
- The facility was delivered through a partnership agreement between VCH (Vancouver Coastal Health), the public sector partner responsible for Vancouver General Hospital, and Access Health Vancouver (AHV) which is a team of companies with demonstrated expertise in building, operating and maintaining health-related facilities.
- The AACC benefits an estimated 600,000 patients annually and supports several hundred medical students and approximately 500 medical and allied professionals.
- The state-of-the-art facility features the latest efficiency and design advancements in ambulatory care based on best practices in patient-centred care in academic environments demonstrated worldwide.
- The AACC will coordinate VGH's ambulatory patient care services – including specialty clinics, along with medical education, physician teaching clinics and research, will enhance patient care, access and scheduling by allowing easier coordination of multiple specialist visits, clinic visits and diagnostics testing for patients.
- The AACC, through the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine, accommodates academic teaching functions in a clinic setting with lecture theatre, seminar rooms, a library and clinical teaching rooms.
- VCH will be the major tenant in the building. Any commercial or retail spaced leased – less than 5% - supports the patient care and academic focus of the building.
