Project Features/Highlights
  • The Raft slab: We placed it with Lafarge's Agilia self compacting concrete and it was the largest pour of this type in Western Canada.
  • The Slipforms: We began pouring the slips for the two silos on January 25 and completed them six days later on February 1.
Project Description
The Lafarge 10k Cement and 4k Flyash Silo Project included the self performed construction of an 1,800 m3 raft slab foundation, two 104 foot silo's, the cement with a 650 m3 elevated hopper slab and the flyash with a 315 m3 elevated hopper slab.  The structural steel scope of work included a railcar unloading building, bucket elevator stair tower, cement transfer bridges, rail slides, surge bin modifications and under hopper work platforms.  In addition, there was masonry, metal cladding and roofing, frames/doors/hardware and louvres.
